Raising a Boy (or kids in general?)
As a first time mum of a two year old boy, I must say that I qualify as having two years of experience in raising a tiny human. I have thus decided to document my conclusive thoughts as a way of giving back to anyone that may require it.
These are my findings :
1. Boys are rough.
2. Boys are wild.
3. Climbing up things (including mum) and jumping down from things (including mum) will most probably be their highlight of the day.
4. Playing with water is really entertaining - this includes putting a bowl of water on a table with nothing else around.
5. Throwing anything and everything, found collectively within a container/bag, down and everywhere is compulsory. (including pegs, crayons, blocks, pens, etc)
6. Being unable to see things right in front of their eyes is inevitable.
7. Asking where something they had 5 seconds ago is a must.
8. They will want what their first hand care giver is or has. This includes the concept of if mum wears a dress, my t-shirt is a dress and I will only wear this.
9. They are unable to determine the force an object would create, thus flinging a hard plastic building block towards you is equivalent to flinging a dirty sponge they used to paint with 10 minutes ago.
10. Running around in a circle created by cones in a small space will possibly tire them out - in time for bedtime.
These findings may seem "negative" however it should not be interpreted this way. It should merely be looked at as neutral observations in raising kids in general. Interpretation is personal and there is a possibility of each point being both positive or negative depending on your mood for the day, hormonal imbalance and level of alcohol consumption.
